What would your perfect day be? My perfect day is one that can't be planned. It wasn't some private beach eating chocolate dipped strawberries or even a 12 row seat at a Lakers game. Nope, it was probably not a very perfect day for anyone else but me but it certainly was a perfect day in the eyes of the beholder.
A few days ago it snowed in Utah valley and stuck for the first time! So naturally I had to finally break in Kellen's snow hat! However, it was bought at the beginning of winter and now his head is getting a little too round for it haha. But we bundled him up red neck style...socks used for gloves, 5 layers of shirts for a coat all wrapped up in a blanket, and took him sledding on the little hill at my in-laws house (which we live in the basement of)! His big blue eyes hardly blinked. He cant say much but I know he loved it! I stood at the bottom of hill and watched Kellen discover the magic of a snow day and my husband bask in the joys of being a daddy......This was perfect moment number one.
Right after laying down for a nap my sister-in law called to invite us to go ice skating!! We hadn't seen them in a long time so we jumped on the chance to get out and play with my niece and nephew. My nephew is a little short stalky kid that has no fear! The minute I got there he wanted to play tag...on ice skates....I haven't been on ice skates since I was like 8. I couldnt stop laughing watching him weave in and out of people at high speed and then crash into a wall as the only resort to stopping! Jord and I switched off holding kellen and skating. Playing childhood games and laughing with my family definitely makes the list as my second perfect moment in the day.
To end the perfect day we came home, picked up in-n-out burgers (my favorite) and made homemade oreos!! As I baked Jord turned on the sound track to the Lion King. I could hear the soft giggles of my baby boy as his daddy danced around in front of him. I put the cookies in the oven and joined in the fun. I know we sound silly but I love my family! I loved singing and dancing to "I just cant wait to be a king." Picture it, the smell of chocolate cookies baking, a little flour from cooking on your pants, the sound of high pitched giggles from a baby laughing at his crazy parents dance moves, and to end the show a slow dance with the man of your dreams to "can you feel the love tonight." Now that is the perfect way to end a perfect day!
I have dreamed of these small moments all my life and today it was my reality! I love being a mom and a wife. It has its extremely difficult parts but the good times out weigh the bad. Sometimes I think of the future and everything Jord and I have to teach this little boy and the kids to come, everything those kids will be faced with and the unknown trials that may lay ahead but for now I will bask in these moments of pure joy...life at its best! One day at a time....and this day was perfect!
Socks for gloves....works great! These two little guys are already best buds!
